Ross Johnson's Legacy Goes Beyond a Reputation for Excess

RJR Nabisco’s chief executive became a symbol of corporate excess in the 1980s, but his exploits may have helped stiffen the spines of corporate directors. Mr. Johnson died Dec. 29 at 85.
