Hudson’s Bay Company, the operator of Saks Fifth Avenue, is to buy German department store chain Galeria Kaufhof from retailer Metro for $3.19 billion including liabilities, in a move to expand beyond North America and potentially introduce Saks-branded stores in Europe.
